YOUR PURPOSE OR HIS PURPOSE?

Quick Question: Why do you exist?

We live in a world that likes to talk so much about purpose. We like to ask, why. Why do we do it that way? Why is it not this? What is the purpose of this kettle... So many whys, but have we sat down for a minute to ask ourselves - why do we exist? Why do I exist? What is my purpose in life? What is my purpose in life as a Christian?

Now, I'm going to list a couple of verses to be sure, but before that, I'll like to rant.

This generation is very big on purpose and it's lovely to see it, honestly, as people want to know why they live, why they should work this job or that job. How about the Christian? How should he live? Again, remember, like I've stated in the previous articles, a Christian person is a different person. he is not what he used to be (loving the things of the world). The Word of God makes that clear saying, "if a man is in Christ, he is a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17).

Now, let's take a verse.

You have been bought with a price (1 Cor 6:20). The sinner, after he has repented after he has been saved by god's grace alone should always remember this, that he/she has been bought with a price. I like the hymn; He Paid The Debt He Did Not Own. Just read the lyrics for a minute.

He paid the debt He did not own
I own the debt, I could not pay
I needed someone to wash my sins away
And now I sing a brand new song, "Amazing Grace"
Christ Jesus paid the debt that I could never pay!

Ouuu! The rest of the lyrics is so in-depth! This song could make you cry if you ever understood (understand its content).

This brings to mind the proverb; The borrower is a slave to the lender (Pro. 22:7). Who were we slaves to? Sin! And after Christ's atonement, who are we slaves to? He paid our debts. I'll let you answer that one. We are still in debt in a way. We owe it all to Jesus. You should really read all of the lyrics of (He Paid the Debt).
Who would you want to live for, as a Christian?

Col. 3:23-24 - Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for the Lord not for whom you serve (man), knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Let's take another scripture - 1 Cor. 10:31 - Whether you eat or drink, whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

Everything! Anything that you do, do it unto God! All for His Glory. For this purpose the Christian lives. To do everything for His glory!!! You were bought with a price, you do not own yourself even if I should say. we do not own ourselves. Our bodies are not ours. Why do we exist as Christians? For His glory! That is primary. You live, I live, we all live for His purpose. Nothing more than this and nothing less than this.

Like King Solomon, son of King David, I'll like to say (repeating his words); The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments because this applies to everything. For God will bring every act to judgement, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

Now, whose purpose are you going to live for, sacrificially? Your purpose or His purpose.

The First Temptation (Selfish Desire)

And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry . And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread .” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘ Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God .’ ” Matthew 4:2‭-‬4 NASB1995 The devil tempted Jesus with bread (food) because he knew Jesus had a desire for it at the time. After not eating for 40 days & nights, our Lord was hungry. And the tempter tempted Him with food. Telling Jesus Christ to turn stones into bread. As a man, he was tempted. Where did the temptation come from? From his desire (James 1:14). Jesus did not give in to this. He delayed gratification. He knew not falling for this temptation will mean he not carrying out His purpose. His answer to the tempter was this, "man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." Man shall not live by satisfyi...

"Jesus," The Name Of A Slave Ship?

One of the first two English slave ships to carry West Africans to the New World was named Jesus. Jesus of Lübeck. Its captain was Sir John Hawkins, known as the first English slave trader. Now, it is believed, or it's historically true that this ship was one of the first to ever land the shores of West Africa to carry slaves from here to the western world. According to journalist Michael Eli Dokosi, Sir John Hawkins persuaded West Africans to gain salvation by boarding the Good Ship Jesus.  Now, let's talk a little about the ship.  Jesus of Lübeck was a carrack built in the Free City of Lübeck in the early 16th century. Around 1540 the ship, which had mostly been used for representative purposes, was acquired by Henry VIII, King of England, to augment (increase) his fleet (warships).  The ship saw action during the French invasion of the Isle of Wight (Island in England) in 1545. She along with Samson were used in an unsuccessful attempt to raise Henry VIII’s flagship, M...
